An approx. 81 km long circular tour along the Weser cycle path between Stolzenau and Minden.

Discover part of the Weser Cycle Path as a circular route on the main and alternative route.

Sights along the route: wind and water mills, St. Jacobi's Castle Stolzenau, Stolzenau town center with town hall, standard clock and local history museum, Schlüsselburg lock, Schlüsselburg barn quarter, Schlüsselburg Castle (outdoor tour), Gernheim glassworks.Jacobi church in Stolzenau, Stolzenau town center with town hall, standard clock and local history museum, Schlüsselburg lock, Schlüsselburg barn quarter, Schlüsselburg castle (outdoor tour), Gernheim glassworks, Petershagen town center with castle (outdoor tour), synagogue, old district court and Lechner figures, Waterway Cross, Old Town, Prussian Museum and Minden Cathedral, Lahde Monastery Mill, Windheim Stork Museum, PetraSolara Windheim Solar Ferry, Heimsen Herring Catcher Museum, Leese Church and historic draw well

The former district town of Stolzenau is located directly on the western bank of the Weser. You can discover the sights on a tour: the town hall, Baron Münchhausen's Freihof, the fire station, etc. Stolzenau's landmark is the twisted spire of St. Jacob's Church.

Continue south via the lock to Schlüsselburg. The historic barn quarter (17th century) on the outskirts of Schlüsselburg is a rural cultural asset of supra-regional importance. The manor house of the castle (privately owned) in the village center was built in 1581-1585 by Ludolf von Klencke in the Weser Renaissance style.

From Schlüsselburg, the path leads to Buchholz with its old fortified church. To the south is Gernheim, a factory town from the early 19th century. Its landmark is the glassworks tower from 1826, part of the Westf. industrial museum Glashütte Gernheim.

The town of Petershagen has 29 districts. Petershagen Castle is located in the center. The former moated castle, residence of the Minden prince-bishops, was converted into a castle in the Weser Renaissance style in the 16th century. Also worth seeing are the town church (1615-20), the Old Synagogue and the Old District Court, built in 1913 in the neo-Renaissance style. It is one of the completely preserved smaller Prussian district courts in Westphalia.

Past windmills, the route leads to the district town of Minden with its waterway junction and shaft lock. In the old town, the cathedral with its cathedral treasury, the market square and the Prussian Museum are well worth seeing. You can see the Kaiser Wilhelm monument in Porta Westfalica from afar. Incidentally, this is where the "Middle Weser" section of the river begins.

On the alternative route to the right of the Weser to the north, the route takes you via Lahde with the monastery mill, a tower windmill on an older watermill building. If you stay on the alternative route north from Lahde, you should not miss the Westphalian Stork Museum in Windheim. Here you can cross the Weser with the PetraSolara, the only solar ferry in NRW (note ferry times!) and then head north again on the left/western side of the Weser towards Stolzenau.

Otherwise, stay on the right/eastern side of the Weser and head north via Döhren and Heimsen with its herring catching museum. Pass gravel ponds on the way to Leese. The church and the historic drawing well are well worth seeing here. You then cross the Weser bridge again and come to Stolzenau.
