Dorfstraße, 27333 Bücken

Sculpture Monument

Foundlings, brick, glazed stone, 2014

The monument was completed by the residents of the village in 2014. It commemorates the 1150th anniversary of Altenbücken in 2010.

In 860, the village was first mentioned as "Bokkenhusen" in a text by Bremen's Archbishop Ansgar.

About two kilometers away through the archway is the Hodenbergstein. This boulder stands on private land and is a reminder of the former Hodenberg fortress that was located there. It was destroyed by the Counts of Hoya in 1206. After 1200, the Hodenberg family moved on to the Aller in what is now Hodenhangen.
