Half-timbered house Historical building Library

The Posthof Nienburg is located in the middle of the old town.

For many decades, this former Burgmannshof housed the electoral and later royal Hanoverian post office with a post station and horse exchange. At the time of the personal union with England, the Posthof is said to have served as the central surveillance point of the Secret Service for over ten years.

From 1864, the building was used as a residential building.

The restoration of the half-ruined building in 1977 was the prelude to the comprehensive renovation of the old town in Nienburg. Today, the Posthof houses the library with an extensive range of media. At the same time, the premises are used as a cultural meeting place - a venue for exhibitions, readings and lectures.

A carillon is located on the side. Three times a day, the melody of the song "Ich bin die kleine Nienburgerin" (I am the little Nienburger) can be heard. (Mon.-Fri. 9.05 am, 12.05 pm and 6.05 pm, Sat.-Sun. 11.05 am, 12.05 pm and 6.05 pm).
