This is probably the largest and oldest living community in Germany.

In 1938, a residential and recreational facility was built here for female workers from the neighboring gunpowder factory. There were various uses after the 2nd World War. The Lebensgarten Steyerberg e.V. was founded in 1986. The buildings were gradually renovated and alternative ways of life and different world views coexist peacefully here. Conferences and seminars are offered on a regular basis.
