Achim's weekly market has over 100 years of history.
With more than 50 different stalls, it is one of the largest and most popular in the region. Along the entire length of the pedestrian zone, a variety of fresh delicacies are offered two days a week, such as fruit and vegetables, honey, asparagus, meat products, southern fruits, smoked products, organic products, but also hot dishes and fresh baked goods from the wood-fired oven as well as seasonal goods, plants and flowers.
Achim was granted a license for a stall and livestock market as early as 1752. The license was renewed after the Seven Years' War in 1767. From then on, there were regular stalls and cattle markets in Achim, which not only attracted visitors from the surrounding area. Since 1910, there has been a so-called twice-weekly market in Achim, which initially took place on the old market square. In 2010, the Achim weekly market celebrated its 100th anniversary.
In the past and today, the Achim weekly market was and still is a popular meeting place for Achim residents and visitors. The market as well as the surrounding stores, restaurants and cafés invite you to shop, stroll and linger, "chat" with friends and acquaintances and to eat and drink.
